Gold-medal winning gymnast Simone Biles will be the flag bearer for the United States during the Closing Ceremony on Sunday.
The honor caps a historic
Olympics for the 19-year-old, who became the first American woman to win
four gold medals in gymnastics during a single Olympics. Biles won five
medals overall.
Biles is widely considered the greatest American
gymnast ever, though she’s competing in just her first Games. However,
Biles already has deflected questions about competing in Tokyo in 2020 and said she just wants to savor the current moment.No better way to do that than leading your fellow American Olympians during the final gathering of what has been one of the United States’ most successful Games.
